When Texas Animal Rescue Society started in 2011, we were a small advocacy group with a big dream: give every cat in Montgomery County a fair chance at a healthy, happy life.
Today, we've rehomed hundreds of cats a year. We've prevented thousands of kittens from being born into homelessness through massive spay/neuter campaigns.
We've kept families together when landlords demanded impossible pet deposits or medical emergencies threatened to separate cats from the people who love them.
The strategies work. They just need fuel.

Let us tell you a story
It was October 23rd when we received an urgent message about a family of cats stuck in a storm drain.
A storm was coming, with predictions of 4-5 inches of rain coming in just a few hours.
The cats wouldn't survive if they weren't rescued.
The storm was coming, we had to act fast.
We quickly mobiliized a team of experienced trappers with ladders and ropes. The race against time was on.
Would we get them all out before the storm hit?
The team got to work, there was no time to spare.
With everyone working together, three kittens were rescued first. But mom and one more kitten were still down there.
And the storm was getting closer.
The entire family was finally out, just in the nick of time.
All four kittens and mama were brought in to safety. After the regular vet checkups, vaccinations and sterilizations, they were all placed for adoption.
They were named the Derry Five, and for all Stephen King fans, we're sure you know why!
