The Texas Animal Society (formerly the Montgomery County Animal Society) originated in 2011 to promote and advocate for our local animal shelter. Throughout the years, we've continued our mission to rescue animals and find the homes they need, while also promoting the health and welfare of pets in the Montgomery County area.

 

After twelve years of expanding our vision and educating the community about rescuing and adopting animals, the Texas Animal Society is now able to work through a network of fosters to rehabilitate sick, injured and abandoned animals. We provide veterinary care and find each animal a loving home. We also reach out and assist with other facilities in a unified quest to care for all pets in need from the local shelter and beyond.

 

Through involvement, education, volunteering and fostering, we give voices to our cats and dogs. We work with individuals, county facilities, local communities and other rescues to achieve our ultimate goal of providing quality care and longevity for the animals in our community.

 

We partner with retailers such as PetSmart, which allows us to host adoption events where our animals can be seen. Our impassioned volunteers are dedicated to saving the lives of the animals in our care, and work solely on private donations. Our ability to succeed is only made possible by our generous donors. Together, we will continue to evolve our mission, and seek humane environments for animals and people alike.

Mission Statement

We rescue, heal, and find loving homes for the animals in our community, including those who most need veterinary care, and we support Montgomery County families so that fewer pets end up homeless in the first place.

How We Accomplish This

We take in the toughest medical cases—broken bones, cancer, abuse, congenital defects, disease—that other rescues can't or won't, providing quality treatment and making space in local shelters for other animals in need. We keep pets out of shelters altogether by helping families with food, vaccines, spay/neuter, and pet deposits, because sometimes a little support is all it takes to keep a beloved companion at home. And we tackle the root of the crisis by partnering with local spay/neuter providers to reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies born into uncertainty each year.

None of this happens alone. More than 75 volunteers foster, transport, and advocate for our animals. In cooperation with PetSmart (Magnolia), which allows us the use of their cat condos, and a roster of volunteers willing to roll up their sleeves, we spotlight pets ready for adoption. Our partnerships with county facilities, local communities, and fellow rescues create a safety net that stretches far beyond what any one organization could build. Together, we change hundreds of lives every year: one roadside rescue, one healed animal, one family kept whole at a time.
